Academic Profile

Prof. Mohammed Kerd is a Full Professor of Higher Education in Philosophy and the current Dean of the Faculty of Human & Social Sciences at Mustapha Stambouli University, Mascara, Algeria. He has devoted over three decades to the study of philosophy and the exploration of human thought.

His scholarly mission is to foster critical and creative understanding among students and researchers, bridging the classical tradition — in particular the thought of Plato — with modern existentialism, especially the philosophy of Martin Heidegger. His work spans hermeneutics, the philosophy of art, technological rationality, and the intersection of poetry with ontology.

With more than 32 years of academic experience since his appointment in 1991 and active contributions to over 20 national and international conferences since 2009, Prof. Kerd stands as a leading voice in contemporary Arab and Algerian philosophy.

كيف بنى الغرب حضارته على إقصاء الآخر؟

هل تساءلت يوما لماذا تبدأ كتب الفلسفة دائما من اليونان، وكأن البشرية لم تفكر قبلها؟ وهل صدفة أن الفلاسفة الأوروبيين الكبار .. من كانط إلى هيغل إلى هيدغر .. يتفقون جميعا على أن العقل والحضارة "الحقيقيين" ولدا في أوروبا وحدها؟

المفكر الجزائري محمد مولفي، أستاذ الفلسفة بجامعة وهران، لا يعتقد أن الأمر مجرد صدفة. في كتابه «الفلسفة والحضارة» يثبت بالتحليل الدقيق أن هذه الفلسفة التي تدرسها كانت تؤدي، بوعي أو بغير وعي، وظيفة سياسية واستعمارية واضحة. هوسرل يحارب العنصرية النازية بأدوات عنصرية أخرى، وهيغل يقر صراحة بأن «نسيان» إسهامات الشرق هو ما بنى الهوية الأوروبية.
